Meeting Opened 1900 hrs at Lang Lang Bowls Club.

President Scott opened the meeting and welcomed all along.

Family of Rotary:

The meeting was informed of Geoff Reeves move to Killara at KooWeeRup. Not the best news for Geoff or the family & apparently he is sporting a possible broken wrist as well. Members wished all the best to Geoff & a speedy recovery.

Special Guest - Cr Trudi Paton:

Trudi informed the members of a planning proposal for a 50megawatt battery to be installed in the new industrial estate off Westernport Rd. There was general support for the inititive though concerns regarding the proximity to houseing in the area.

Trudi spoke with members about the Food & Agribusiness Advisary Committee for Cardinia Shire before passing on that there is a round of grants availible under the Well Being banner. These include; $3000 Volunteer Grants $5000 New Club/Program Grants & $1000 Small Equipment Grants. It was discussed that the club could access funds to utilise in the DV space.

General Business

  • President Scott ran members through some updates & news from the recent Presidents meeting for 9815 - A couple of key takaways:
District has engaged the support of Ted Whitton Foundation & their Prostate Health Check Bus(blood test only!) & Scott would like to promote this to the local sporting clubs as a service to their members in conjunction with key games like Lang Lang vs Catani & KooWeeRup vs Tooridon.
  • Scott gave members an update on the DV Working Group & it was discussed to look at purchasing promotional shirts for members & access Wll Being Grants for support.
  • Scott is heading back to Tasmania to attend the 2026 District Conferance
  • Scott has also been hanging out with former member Bob Comber along with Di in their new place in Sale while he is working in the area. Scott has attended Rotary Sale meetings & felt welcomed by the club.
  • Treasurer Michele gave a run down of the Show n Shine indicating that at this stage the event has looked to have raised over $28,000. A huge thanks to everyone who helped on the day and behind the scenes.
Initial figures show that there was around $750 taken at the weekends ‘Community Sunday Funday’ run at the showgrounds. Thanks again to those who were able to attend & support the Rotary BBQ.
  • Travis raised the idea of Rotary supporting the LLPS upcoming STOMP Dance Performance by coooking a BBQ for the families on the night prior to performance from 5pm through to 6pm. Sam suggetsed that the traler BBQ would do the job.
  • Fellowship and a great supper ensured that all attendees had a great night and many facets of Rotary were discussed.  Sometimes, these informal meetings are the best!
